Dear Group,
I'm a novice user of Linux, although I've
been working on it for quite some time. Now, I'm
facing a strange problem with installing Linux (Fedora
Core 3), though it seems that I'ld have faced the same
problem with any other Linux distribution. My current
M/C Hardware configuration is as follows:-
1> Processor:Intel Pentium IV 3.0 GHz with HT.
2> Mainboard:Intel D915GAG Desktop Board.
3> Memory:Kinston DDR 256MB X 2 @ 400Mhz.
4> HDD :Seagate 120 GB SATA + Samsung 40 GB Puma
5> CD-ROM:LG GCE-8526B CD-RW + LG GDR-8163B DVD-ROM.
My machine already has a Windows Dual-Boot
COnfiguration with the SATA Drive as the PRimary Boot
Device, although the BIOS identifies the Samsung HDD
as the 1st HDD. Now, when I try to install Linux on
the SATA Drive, the installation completes without any
errors, but, the GRUB boot Loader does'nt appear on
rebooting. However, if I Set my Primary Boot Drive as
the Samsung HDD, the GRUB Boot LOader appers, but,
then, I cant boot to Windows! What should I do under
such a scenario? I've already tried to install GRUB on
the The ist Boot Partition, instead of the MBR, but in
vein. Also, if I try booting into Linux with a Floppy,
I'm able to continue with Linux, but Windows does'nt
boot at all! Can anyone suggest what can be done? -
Deepesh Basu.
