I didn't quite get the reply. [1] Is this in response to this particular spec ? or [2] Is this a general response ? I believe that firstboot package does check for the soundcard and the test sound so the perception that the soundcard is not detected is something I could not understand. As regards the mute by default, this has been amply documented as to how to go about with alsamixer.
