Hi, I use icewm window manager. I have tried to implement CUPS and faced a horrible situation. I am giving the details here .
1) I have installed cupsys-deamon. then set it using http//:localhost:631 and select a driver for epson stylus20sx 2) a print out from abiword gives huge ascii information regarding page size, font style etc etc (why ??) 3) I have removed lpr and installed cupsys-bsd, cupsys-client 4) printout from abiword repeated step (2) all the above experiments took a HUGE time. 5) finally I have used printer setup of KDE. after setting EPSON --> stylus 20sx it asks for *foomatic* packages. like foomatic-db, foomatic-printer, foomatic+gimp etc. 6) after installing all these KDE printer setup successfully set the printer and a print out from abiword gave a perfect result. now I have some questions to ask 1) what is foomatic and how can I use this in cups setup ( http//:localhost:631 ) ? 2) is it not possible to get the perfect result without foomatic ( using some other package) or how could I solve the problem if I don't go for KDE printer setup ?? -- -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
