As far as my limited understanding goes, you need to setup the modem  -
either configure the modem's on-board pppd dialer and NAT capabilities
or configure your computer to use rp-pppoe.

So what *exactly* is not getting auto-configured in your case?

Ahem... please keep a *close tab* on your usage at least in the first
billing cycle, bcoz BSNL's billing software __SUCKS__
