Looks like this was because of a gcc bug and has been fixed for sometime now. See this: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=161242
I was facing a similar problem, and was able to resolve it today. 'yum update xorg-x11' followed by a reboot fixed the problem.
