Hmmmm... I too am facing this issue - I started getting this
day-before-yesterday - I wonder if there were any sound driver updates sent
out recently - I regularly update my computer with the update manager.
I did open up the ALSA mixer panel but I was not sure what the various tabs
were for so I set only the master to maximum and
I noticed the crackling sound.
Thanks for the solution Gokul - I will try it out and let you know how it
goes.
