Type inxi -xG in the terminal.
This will show the details of your graphics card and chipset. When you
post something related to hardware it is helpful to attach the full
details of your system h/w.
So please append the output of the command 'sudo dmidecode'. I think
this is a common problem with rare h/w...
-- Try adding "pci=nommconf" to /boot/grub/menu.lst and restart the
computer.
-- If this is not working try reinstalling, by adding "acpi=off
noapic" as kernel parameter.
-- Resolution and other xserver related configs are in /etc/X11/
xorg.conf.
-- Try adding the line - modes "1024x768" "800x600" at the screen
section to the above file.
Hope this will solve the problem...
