It is GIMP's beauty that it can hide all its beastliness to a common user.But we don't really need Gimp for common place editing like croping and changing colors.I always expected something lighter than gimp for such silly modifications of an image. And we only need GIMP for doing things as developers ,hackers etc .. and the rest of the applications you mentioned fulfill the basic needs like Read Email,Chat and manage photos. -- Srihari -- "Freedom is the only law".
