Check the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf and try to ping to those. If
it doesn't, then try adding the following DNS to your /etc/resolv.conf
(OpenDNS)

208.67.220.220

I have successfully connected airtel and idea netsetter in Fedora 10,
11 and 12, but haven't used aircel.

You can also try manual configuration  via System-->Administration-->Network.
