OpenCASCADE is a toolkit for building CAD software, not CAD software
itself. The history of the project and the project's license have
raised questions as to whether it's actually open source software (per
the OSI definition). That said, it provides an interesting geometry
kernel for developers.

BRL-CAD is the most comprehensive open source solid modeling system
available and has been in production use for more than 20 years. BRL-
CAD has a very steep learning curve making it time-intensive for
modelers to become proficient with it, but there are vast changes
under development to improve usability and the appearance of the GUI.
BRL-CAD's tools do strongly reflect the project's heritage supporting
engineering analysis more than design, while drafting features and 2D-
centric practices are minimally supported. Full disclosure: I'm the
open source project lead for BRL-CAD.

The little I know about gCAD3D is that it's a relatively new piece of
software with very limited features, support, and documentation. I'm
not aware of anyone using them for production use yet.

Cheers!
Sean
