Normally, this is done to achieve very high bandwidth TCP/IP link.
Typical industries: cloud/grid computing, high performance and very
large databases/oltp, high-end video editing and post-processing, high
end 3D CAD, etc.

IIRC, this is technically also called Channel Bonding.
