Subject: [Iac2009] Job Call - WIKI Developer Required
To: Info Action Camp <[email protected]>

Hello All,

An international organisation based in the US and Philippines, Global Anti
Incinerator Alliance (GAIA) is looking for a wiki developer. Posting the job
details below.

 Regards

Dharmesh

----------------------------------------

Hi Dharmesh

So we are on the hunt to find a wiki developer. If you can send out an email
to your contacts, that would be very helpful.

We are looking for someone who has experience with wikis to helps us choose,
install and customize a platform. Ideally, this person should have built
wikis before so they know the right questions to ask.

*Its an online job so there are no geographical limitations on the
position, the developer can be based anywhere in the world. In terms of
time-frame, we are hoping to get the wiki up and running in the next 2-3
months. Of course, populating it would take much longer -- and so there may
be ongoing tech support for a while -- but the bulk of the developer's work
would be done by then. The terms of payment negotiable and can be discussed
with the interested applicants. *

Here are the features that we are looking for in the Wiki:

Wiki Features:
- partly password protected. Certain sections would be only accessible by
GAIA staff. Everything else can be by GAIA members. The public can read
sections of the wiki.

- varying degrees of editorial control. Generally, only GAIA members can
edit, but the managers can fine-tune editorial controls, e.g. allowing
certain members broader editing privileges than others, or holding some
edits until approved.

- multilingual. We will eventually want English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian,
Portuguese and other versions. These will not be mirror sites, but
independent wikis; however, it would be useful to have them interconnect to
the degree possible. This might include a multilingual dictionary.

- printable. Many of the wiki articles would be useful as factsheets that
could be readily printed out, perhaps with a member’s logo dropped in. The
ability to do a one-click PDF would be great.

- multi-format. We should be able to include image, PDF, powerpoint, video
and other formats within the wiki.

- search by full text; category (e.g. consultants); keyword; or format (e.g.
image). As much as possible, we want to avoid having to keyword articles,
which is unlikely to happen reliably.

- quality feedback. Wiki users should be able to rate each page according to
whether it a) needs more information b) needs to be reviewed for accuracy c)
needs to be edited for style d) is in good shape.

- control panel. A central page where editors can see:
       - which pages have been edited, and where edits are pending approval
       - which pages require work (from quality feedback)
       - which dead links/stubs are clicked on most often
       - all the edits made by an individual user.

Cheers
Neil
