.Try GNU octave.. It is compatible with matlab although there is some differences. as quoted by Wikipedia "Its syntax is very similar to MATLAB, and careful programming of a script will allow it to run on both Octave and MATLAB." Trying Octave is worth in a way that u can write C++ program that can do same as octave script.
