Thank you for your kind reply but the fact is that I have tried
octave before. However I didn't find it as smooth as matlab. Also, the
functionalities in matlab aren't available in octave. Not to forget the
toolboxes in matlab, which are if very much importance for my work.

P.S. : The Linux variant of matlab is available in torrents. But I do not
have a net connection enough to download that 1.2 gb of data. So, I thought
I could borrow it from someone in tvm who has a copy of it.
