Most of the mobile phones can not detect ad-hoc wifi. You need to create a
Access point for that. In linux u can use Hostapd for this cause. As you
are using ubuntu, you can easily find it in ubuntu software centre. But all
the configuration have to be done manually in text mode. no GUI suppport
yet. Although Fedora promises native AP-mode support in its next release.
So if love to dig things go on with hostapd. Its a nice tool. Otherwise
wait for native support. Hope this helps.. :)
