On reading your mail it looks very much like a BIOS problem. Most probably, the "auto" HDD configuration in your BIOS settings is not working. The live CD "kicks" the HDD system and it then acquires its "correct" settings. After that a soft reboot will work. Diagnosing this problem is probably difficult. Ask a local hardware expert to look over the cabling.
