I came across this interesting link on Planet GNOME, about two presentations made at a GCC Summit (by Ian Lance Taylor), concerning the reimplementation of parts of GCC, et al. in C++ http://www.airs.com/blog/archives/209
If find the idea of reimplementing gcc in C++ to be interesting, if redundant. There are some interesting points on speed improvements, but largely nothing especially impressive. However, the presentation on a C++ reimplementation of the linker (ld), is well, gold ;-). The results are *very* impressive, and I'm surprised something like that was pulled off largely by one man. If GCC sees such improvements as well... What do you all think about it? *OT ALERT* And lastly, since I predict this will be raised anyway, one can't help but notice the gorgeous beamer theme. I've never seen more beautiful presentations then those made with LaTeX and beamer. -- Arun Tejasvi Chaganty (vimzard) GNOME GSoC Student Blog: http://arunchaganty.wordpress.com
