You have to be incredibly naive to believe it ever was completely. There
has always been pockets of proprietary and patent encumbered
technologies. The spread of Flash, Silverlight etc is making it worse.
There has been some glimmer of hope at times. The recent news of Firefox
3.1 planning to include ogg support directly is a potential boon.
