>>my requirement is to maintain an community portal, which consist of reference materials, forum and polls. Along with that i also in need of wiki. for wiki i could use trac.
I am not advocating/impeaching any specific product of cms here but i am recording my experience which in my view , that would help the OP I am just churning the web for the first parameter , handling large file formats and presume your reference material might(i presume might) be of large file in size. Some of the cms and their problems are listed below. The main reason for comparing the drawbacks with respect to the problem is making aware about the issues out there, and the findings listed are far from complete. As problems might be there and also the fixes might be there to the relevant problems, and we never know whether it is a 2 minutes of work!!! or 20 hours of work and as a new user to those environments, only the estimation can be done as we cross the bridge when it comes. Plone: When working with reference materials ,you might need to upload large file formats and that There is an article which talks about plone drawbacks in default mode. Kindly go through http://www.contentmanagementsoftware.info/blog/large-files-management and by default plone doesnt has the zodb blob. There are some round about way of achieving this. As a beginner might have a steep learning curve in addressing this problem. A feature which has been accepted as a need by the plone strategic community and a ticket was opened #7822 plone dev which does not have the current status of the ticket. Drupal 6.0x: The drupal has a little more peculiar problem, if your resource material is going to be "say not supported by getid3() then you might have to consider a fix at http://drupal.org/node/270994 Wordpress: And security vulnerability been reported in the wordpress camp for handling the large file http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4137 and improved patched are available with server timeout on client request. My suggestion would be get started with the most convenient language you know and look out for the mentioned features in the cms which is written in that language you are comfortable with.i am continuing search/research on this topic in between my work.i will come back to this thread some times later. Mean while you can check out with http://www.cmsmatrix.org/ for comparing various cms products and look out for the features by visiting the relevant web site regards Thyagarajan Shanmugham _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
