I think the point is as an organization , we have to focus on productivity also. As an individual I was able to migrate to Linux slowly .Even then it took me about an year to be completely independent of proprietary software . It was my own initiative.It was not easy though I am very happy I was able to do now. But when it come to work , I still need a windows machine for some reason or other. Webex was not supported properly till few months ago in Linux till Cisco took over and did something about it. We are dependent on windows environment for something or other. In India digital certificate and company formation etc are still depending on windows and IE ! This is mainly because of individuals resisting change since they do not want to learn something new or lose control over others - nothing technical about it . With SAAS picking up , 100% independence will happen but we have to patient and worked towards it. And in the mean time we have to live with mixed environment and make sure we are productive and efficient.
