Try moving the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Newer Xorg auto detects and
configures the required values. I am not sure what version of Xorg
does lenny have. I had this problem when I upgraded ubuntu 8.04 to
8.10. Removing the xorg.conf did the trick.
