Depends on what you deleted. Could you be a bit more specific ? If you messed up
your system by doing something silly like rm -rf {/bin,/sbin,/lib...}, then yes
the system can be restored back to a sane state (probably), but if you did
something downright crazy like rm -rf ~ ...chances are low that you'd get back
all that was deleted. That said, there still is hope, google for "ext3 or ext2
undelete" (assuming that the filesystem was one of those).
