If the hard disk works with linux but not windows, chances are that
there is some (mother board) driver issues with windows and not with
the file system. I have seen a couple of cases like this. Checking the
disk is not going to help. If you have your mother board driver CD,
then when you boot from the windows CD drive, there is an option where
you can load the drivers before it boots into the installation screen.
You have to press F2 or F8 - it mentions the key in the bottom of the
screen for a few seconds while booting up from CD. Try loading the
drivers and then repairing or reinstalling windows.
