The consequences are, while the temp (the avg temp actually) rises on a

True.

its being referred to as climate change now rather than global warming.

Global warming is only a part. There's also a global cooling effect ! Talk
of a new Ice age !

Not sure about that. But we'll ve to be responsible citizens and not throw
garbage or burn/use plastic etc. you know all that.

Any why it's complex is the nature of the subject. Lot's of parameters, less
and more complex. And added to that, there are some data which ( in my
opinion ) not fall into the category of being a parameter at all and are
purely dependent on historical data.. e.g. behaviour of El nino, La nina
etc.. It makes it all but impossible to make projections/calculations about
future climate. That's where the public data sets come into the picture.

The algorithms are quite complex ( but not difficult or impossible ) and not
very accurate. We can only arrive at approximations most of the time. FOSS
world needs more people to be involved.. Someone should start a project
based on this.. I would suggest we follow the pattern followed by open
street maps for such a project. Anyone game ??
