I've done this before when email used to be delivered to my machine
rather than to GMail/YMail/etc. That used procmail to do additional
filtering before mail landed up in one of my inboxes.
The standard recipe ('man procmailex' or
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/dapper/man5/procmailex.5.html )
uses the Message-ID field content to check for duplicates. The
Message-ID should be the same for cross-posts.
A minor variant with a clear explanation is here:
http://ramblings.narrabilis.com/wp/filtering-duplicate-emails-with-procmail/.
The duplicates go into a separate folder, but can be dumped in
/dev/null as well.
Unsure how to do this through GMail filters. If you do figure out,
please post the solution.

Sameer
