I agree, Its not the best thing to be talked about in a linux forum, but
then this is a unique and engrossing scenario which makes one think of ways
that files could stored on a filesystem, such that even overwriting a
location using 'dd' did not overwrite the actual file.

I am sure there is something special to be learnt here, because as per my
knowledge dd is supposed to be overwriting blocks directly on the location
specified, then howcome upon deleting the file after overwriting, the
original file is restored, and what's making the drive to change to readonly
mode. I am just trying to understand these points.

And moreover if I take this drive to the markets like Nehru place in delhi
and Burma bazar in Chennai, they will be able to format it in no time. Like
they did for my memory card, that was not even detectable on my system or
phone (dmesg indicated finding a new device, however was able to assign a
device file for the same, for which I had once written a mail).
