As suggested by Mohan Sundaram, do not edit resolv.conf (which is
re-generated by Network Manager in KDE) but set DNS in your Network
Manager (or other equivalent application of your desktop).

I have BSNL broadband and use 4.2.2.2 and 8.8.8.8 as DNS servers. Face
no problems as you describe.
