Hi, Following were the major questions raised.
>is it OK for you or someone to 'endorse'/recommend licences? Why not? Please correct me if I am wrong but commenting/endorsing/recommending something (in absolute sense or relative to something else) is Freedom of speech. >Is there and legal/political reason behind other than your own preference? No, as I mentioned even at the end of blog post, this is a personal blog. There is no legal/political reason, only my preference. > it is a good thing that major companies use BSD > licensed code - better than using proprietary code. I stated that as a fact without saying its a good thing or a bad thing. > No one license is 'better' than another license. My aim was in no way to show bias towards one license over another but just to provide short summary. I have corrected text at a few places where I thought it was giving the impression that I am biased towards some license. If anyone still thinks that there is some portion of blog post which is opinionated towards any license, please cite that and we can discuss. > so can you clarify whether you prefer GPL to other licenses? Well, as you (Kenneth) yourself have already answered this beautifully if I am contributing to some open-source project, I would prefer taking one of the license which is popular among developer community (from whom I expect contribution) Apart from that [if possible], I would probably would go for a dual licensing approach [a copyleft + a permissive license] Ashish Bhatia http://ashishb.net _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
