It definitely wouldn't be free either For school students, school OS would ideal I guess-it's based on Ubuntu and comes with a lot of softwares pre-installed. Convincing to use GNU/Linux: 1. Perhaps it could be pointed out that experience with open source would greatly enhance the skill of students, specially college students, and enhance chances of getting a job? 2. Tamil software and educational content all exist in the open source domain No need for additional software(these might be proprietary too). 3. Anti-virus license would have to be renewed after a year-no student would do that; instead they would use pirated versions mostly. 4. And of course, the obvious truth-more than 100 Cr would be spent for sure-a colossal waste IMO. This needs some attention-the due date is 8th July as said in page 14.
