It depends. In freelancing you will miss the face to face contacts, working
with coworkers as a team etc and etc. In the bargain you get freedom
(supposedly !) But most important of all it depends on how long you want to
do freelancing. It might all be fun and dandy but wait till you get married
!. And then if you want to switch back later, to a day to day office job at
a later stage. The first question a recruiter would ask you is "All along
you have worked alone but now how would you adapt to a team situation".

Also on this point. A question arises in my mind. Is it true only for RoR or
even for other languages/framework etc. OR is RoR ruling the roost in
freelancing ?

My premise is that if you are a freelancer and are really good at something
be it java, php or RoR or even creating modules for WP or Drupal. You will
always find your plate full.
