I made this remark because it shows a large number of people from Chennai are members of github, and if an all India search is done, it will show a huge number from India. Of these users, in my opinion, less than 5% are contributors to open source. I recognise many names in the list - some of them are the real good contributors, and most of them are on this mailing list. I also recognise quite a few guys from firms that require every developer to get a github id. Therefore the best place to search for contributors from Chennai is this mailing list. The problem is to get them to come forward and brag. This is difficult because except for a few who have made really huge or significant contributions, the rest of us feel that what we have done or are doing is no big deal. The only solution is for friends of those who contribute to come forward with the info. As for your analogy, if you want to know the number of people who travel by train to go bird watching, it is foolish to watch the trains and try to identify the 0.0001 percentage of the travelers who are going to watch birds - it is far easier to go to the bird sanctuary and find out the number of people there who commute by train. -- regards Kenneth Gonsalves _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
