There are opportunities in the Linux domain itself. Some of the
commercial Linux offerings have Unix to Linux migration as a line of
business. Nonetheless, having Unix admin. domain knowledge can be
plus for certain industries like BFSI which does have significant
investments in Sun products.

Watch the curriculum for the advanced level Redhat and LPI Linux
certifications. The curriculum keeps evolving on the latest
technology (which is driven by market demand) and it will help you
ascertain the areas that you may be interested in.

Virtualization, Cloud Computing, Security are vast areas. You can
delve deep in anyone and strive to become an expert.

This is hard work. No pain, No gain.
