Did you ask your Network Admin what was the problem with the previous IP number? Until you know the answer to this question, I would not consider it resolved. AT this point of time you are clueless as to why the SAP application was not reachable from your ubuntu server with the x.y.z.6 number (presumably given to you by the Nework Admin). Why did your Network Admin give an IP number in the first place and change it later? I had asked you to give the result of the "telnet:" test and you did not. I am interested in confirming my suspicion of whether there were any firewall rules preventing access to SAP application(s) from the first IP number but you have not done that. IMO, this is the least you can do when people help you in these kind of forums. Unless you start asking questions like these you will *not* grow your knowledge base. The next time you encounter similar symptoms you will still be at base 0. -- Arun Khan "As a layman, I would say we have it, but as a scientist I have to say, 'What do we have?'"
