>> Sorry, if it happens to be top-posting. >> A year back, met a Tally Sales person a year back at one of the MNC data center. He said they have a version for Linux / Unix. Did not follow it up then.
If Windows is bad and Tally helping Ubuntu replace Windows is good, then that requires a serious introspection. The biggest barrier that forbids users from switching over to Free/ Open software are non-availibity of applications for their domain specific needs. The first question to put forth when you want to assist someone migrate to free software is to ask what are the day-to-day applications they run? And if those applications do not have a binary for GNU/ Linux environment, ask them to first start replacing from those app & not the OS. OpenERP is an alternative. As the thread pertains to a Medical Industry, FSF's award winning application OpenMRS might give solution in course of time, provided you take up the burden of customization. Else, let the customer enjoy a happy married life with both Tally & Windows. ;-) _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
