It would have been more helpful if you have started off stating the difference between the HPC and HA cluster. I have deployed many experimental and production HA clusters in the past. You have not mentioned that without fencing, HA cluster is a disaster. Of course I could not complete an HPC clustering as I have to switch jobs at that time and they did not have resources for the same. I think you should have mentioned clearly that clustering is not for the faint hearted. and it requires some kind of shared storage like SAN or iSCSI. Kindly request you to make things make more clear henceforth.
