Dear lug, I am getting some experience with clustering though I will get more knowledge after I finish the deployment in London.
And I knew something about clustering for some 4 years now. Let me go about it in common man's speak. I understand LUG audience pretty well and I can also present things in a simple fashion so let us get started. First what is clustering? Clustering is the ability of multiple disparate nodes(computers) to perform a common goal. It is like multiple lungs breathing for one person. And just like Citthars can jump from one body to another and come back to their body, cluster nodes can also do something similar(koodu vitu koodu payarthu). Right so clustering can be done at an application level like web service, or SMTP or Db application or anything you can think of. And it can also work at a deeper lower level in which the entire OS node is clustered. For instance just like double action in movies multiple separate nodes can do the same thing and end users will not know the difference. There are also issues like carrying across live sessions,TCP connections etc. or just ensuring 100% availability.
