Current projects in the biodiversity informatics program includes The Western Ghats Portal http://thewesternghats.in/ and the India Biodiversity Portal (IBP) http://indiabiodiversity.org/ on one hand and the recently launched Weed Identification and Knowledge in the Western Indian Ocean project http://wikwio.org and http://portal.wikwio.org. These portals aim to build comprehensive information systems for documenting the biodiversity of the Western Ghats and the Indian subcontinent and the weeds species of Western Indian Ocean region. The portal’s technology is completely open source and the code base in available on github.com. The portals are in active development with new features and functionality. The portal has a map module, a species module, and a social network and observation module. We are looking for 2 member team for 32 months to work on web technologies to build a world class biodiversity informatics platform that will provide global leadership in technology and help in effective conservation of biodiversity.
