redhat-config-xfree86 shud work fine for RH 8 & above.
but if still ur prob is not solved then try this
thing, run the shell script (text mode) & try running
xconfig via KDM. then select KDE instead of GNOME. 
if it still doesnt work then download the required
drivers for ur M/B.. & then it shud work abs fine. gud

there is no xf86config or
