If so, the port on the back of the tape box is a paralle port, will not work
with SCSI.  The drive inside is probabli SCSI, but the box converts.  Lose
the box, and plug the drive in to the SCSi card.

Is the card detecting the drive?

Power up the drive before booting, and look in /proc/scsi

Have you loaded, or compiled in, the SCSI Tape module (st.o)?

You do not need ftape.
