For some reason the old banner program seems to have deprecated. But you
could try this neat little program called figlet:
figlet hello world
_ _ _ _ _
| |__ ___| | | ___ __ _____ _ __| | __| |
| '_ \ / _ \ | |/ _ \ \ \ /\ / / _ \| '__| |/ _` |
| | | | __/ | | (_) | \ V V / (_) | | | | (_| |
|_| |_|\___|_|_|\___/ \_/\_/ \___/|_| |_|\__,_|
Produces nice outputs like that. Has all kinds of neat features. You
should fine it here:
