Hi Aj, I have been using Mandrake 9.1 for a couple of months now and have not faced any such problems with it. I am guessing that there is something wrong with your installation of 9.1 or the source (the Digit DVD) had packed in some corrupted files maybe.
I think you should try to reinstall 9.1 on a clean hard-drive. Just backup all your important stuff and then reinstall 9.1. Thats how I had done it. Maybe there is some issue with your particular hardware(s) not being able to work with 9.1 too. Look up the message boards at the Mandrake website, you might find a solution there.
