Hello Akshay, Please check few things:- 1. Check the samba logs /var/log/samba/log.nmbd 2. How you are adding the user to smabpasswd . (i use "sambpasswd -a user") pls check it.
3. If samba has to work only a file server within you LAN & security is not much of an issue then look for "NOTE ABOUT USERNAME/PASSWORD VALIDATION" para in "man smb.conf" 4. Check the permissions of exposed Dirs If you need my config file mail me off the list.
