nah! that's the other problem. read below...

nope. i recommend hold the meet in any girl's only college. invite girls
from other colleges, and even schools, to attend. the meet should be
open to all girl students, whether techie or not, who use computers and
wish to explore the world of linux. the talks will cover a broad range
of topics, mostly end-user desktops, how to migrate, alternative
software, linux delhi community, linux in education, etc etc.

once this catches traction, subsequent meets could then be organized by
volunteers among them, for tech-specific topics. maybe linux-delhi could
have a separate, dedicated mailing list for girls/women using gnulinux,
to discuss hosting and organizing such events more regularly, linux
general topics, and so on. and of course, the ilug-d main mailing list
is anyways open to all.

at linuxasia i did meet a few indian women holding key positions in
companies and organizations. so giving further momentum to this would be
really wonderful.

sandip, if you feel it worthwhile, you could post this thread/mail to
the linux-india mailing as well.

:-)
