$the problem is not with the player, afai can guess. the problem is $either with a) sound not working as suggested by sandeep, or b) $mp3-encoder. you need to read the documents that relate to mp3 encoders $under linux carefully to check your installation is correct. i $found the O yes one more thingie. Some time back, the default installation from the xmms rpm had the diskwriter plugin selected by default, check the option for that and verify the oss sound plugin is selected for output.
