I concur! Even 2 mins is infinitely more than zero. :-)

touche.

Very true honorable LL Ji... But can we actually manage the show in 15
mins??? I don't think so...

maybe not, but let's fit the intro in 15 minutes. after the meet, the
newbies could ask questions one-to-one. let's see what happens.

I agree wholeheartedly with LL's suggestions though. We have two distinct kind of audience in our meets - non-tech end users(newbies/experienced) and tech end users(newbies/experienced). Maybe we can profile the people attending the meets to find out how many are which ( No, I dont think an online poll is enough. This has to happen with people who actually attend the meets :-P )

Whatever happens, the needs of the newbies are more than experienced users - after all when do you need handholding the most?

I actually feel that a minimum of 25% of the meet schedule should be for newbies, if not 50%. It need not be things like "What is Linux", but really basic topics, like configuring the printer, or using a digital camera - things that a new linux user would like to do.

Ofcourse, it means that the experiences people will yawn through half the meets, but they should understand the priorities of this users group.
