hi pankaj yes one of the members suggested change the net mask to 255.255.0.0 of eth0 and gateway for eth1 to be specified as 172.16.12.146 ;and it did worked and explanation is the gateway 172.16.50.1 is directly connected to my machine via hub so there is no need to specify any routing .
