I have never had any ASUS specific issues with Linux. I have preferred ASUS 
for years, and still insist on it whenver I buy a new box. No issues till 
now. Since the Mobos I buy are always for AMD, the chipset is generally VIA. 
Newer VIA hard disk controllers have sometimes faced problems, but that is 
still similar to many new hardware.
