anybody on the mailing list faced issues with Asus? I have an asus
motherboard and yes, it initialy gave me problems, but that was with
nVidia onboard, and the soundchip onboard. however, when i did move up
to 2.6, i noted loads of problems, and attributed thse to the peculiar
distro. but this shines some new light, or does?

Is ASUS Anti-Linux?
http://newsvac.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=04/07/15/1441238

For several weeks now, we have been very busy reviewing 32-bit and
64-bit, 2.6 Linux kernel, GNU-Linux distributions. During the course of
our lab work with these distros it came to our attention that Asus, the
motherboard manufacturer, has a rather nasty anti-Linux and
anti-open-source software attitude. Moreover, the Asus people are
arrogant about their anti-Linux policy. That sucks!
