Why is your Dr. DBA hell bent on installing Oracle 8i on RHEL 3.x when it is NOT supported? Sometime back you or your Dr. DBA tried a similar adventure - installation of Oracle 8i on RH Linux v8.x....What happened to that? There is a reason why these companies (Oracle + RedHat + SuSe..) come out w/ a product certification matrix every year. Unfortunately, you are not interested in reading that.
