hi, I wouldnt link SNMP with the Linux Distro. Lets assume that for argument's sake RHEL 3.0 or 4.0 doesnt come with snmp support; you just have to download and install the Net-SNMP (formerly UCD-Snmp) package. As far as oracle is concerned, this link should give you a blow by blow account of the process. http://oracle.cis.ksu.edu/oradocs/em.920/a96672/toc.htm I would personally suggest using Nagios or Cacti to monitor whatever you want on the Oracle DB but then you could always use HP OV or Unicenter etc.

Any information/experience about how to use snmp, snmp-trap with database servers on enterprise linux would be great help. We basically want to monitor database related information like table space, size allocated etc Regards, Yash _______________________________________________ ilugd mailinglist -- [email protected] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ catch ya later (Ive gotta UnWire Life!!!) shiv --------------------------------- Yahoo!
