hi,
I wouldnt link SNMP with the Linux Distro. Lets assume that for argument's
sake RHEL 3.0 or 4.0 doesnt come with snmp support; you just have to download
and install the Net-SNMP (formerly UCD-Snmp) package.
As far as oracle is concerned, this link should give you a blow by blow
account of the process.

I would personally suggest using Nagios or Cacti to monitor whatever you
want on the Oracle DB but then you could always use HP OV or Unicenter etc.

We use opmanager to monitor few db servers and application servers.
Can someone tell me is oracle's native snmp, supported in RHEL 3.0 or 4.0 ?
Any information/experience about how to use snmp, snmp-trap with
database servers on enterprise linux would be great help.
We basically want to monitor database related information like table
space, size allocated etc

Regards,
Yash
